Wing chair

A wing chair is an armchair or club seat with wing like structure attached to the rear and side of the seat, normally, yet not continuously, extending down to the arm rest. The reason for the “wings” was to protect the tenant of the seat from drafts, and to trap the intensity from a chimney in the space where the individual would sit.
